Following the recent public meeting held in early August, the Cork County Council’s Beacon Retail programme was officially launched in Mitchelstown on Tuesday 19th August 2014.
Retailers across a diverse range of categories attending the one day Group Workshop, to discuss best principles in retailing. The workshop was coordinated by Padraig O’ Sullivan, Regional Development Executive of the Beacon, along with Elmer Kerr, an experienced retail professional.
Each retailer will now meet with a dedicated advisory team who will work with them to discuss first hand the challenges they are facing. Once the key challenges have been identified, a strategic working document will then be compiled and put into action, for continual review over the duration of the programme.
The Beacon Retail Initiative is heavily funded by the Cork County Council’s Economic Development Fund and in addition to Mitchelstown, the programme has been rolled out to several towns across Cork county including; Charleville, Ballincollig, Dunmanway, Millstreet and Youghal and it is currently ongoing in both Castletownbere and Cobh.
